Jersey City traffic lane change

The northbound traffic lanes on West Street between Liberty and Vesey streets will be reconfigured beginning early tomorrow morning to accommodate ongoing construction at the World Trade Center site.
Northbound traffic will be shifted to the east onto a new bridge that borders the site. The shift will allow continued progress on the East-West Connector, an underground passageway that will link the World Trade Center Transportation Hub to the World Financial Center.
The shift will be done between 12:01 a.m. and 4 a.m. to minimize any traffic impacts through the area.
The reconfiguration of the traffic lanes is the result of coordination between the Port Authority, New York State Department of Transportation, and New York City Department of Transportation all working together to advance Lower Manhattan construction.

More roadwork

Deck replacement on Rt. 3 Bridge over the Passaic River

TRENTON – Commissioner Kris Kolluri today announced that the New Jersey Department of Transportation starting August 27 will replace the deck of the Rt. 3 Bridge over the Passaic River between Clifton and Rutherford in Passaic and Bergen counties.

“NJDOT routinely monitors and repairs our state’s roadway infrastructure in order to ensure that operational and safety standards are maintained,” said Commissioner Kolluri. “Replacement of the Route 3 bridge deck will improve safety for motorists crossing the Passaic River.”

NJDOT will replace the existing steel deck grates on the movable spans of the bridge. All work will be performed at night in order to mitigate impact for motorists. The $ 3.7 million project is scheduled to be completed in January 2008.

Rt. 3 Eastbound work will take place from August through November and will entail single lane overnight closures. Crews will work on Monday to Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. and Fridays from 10:30 p.m. to 7:30 am.

From late-November to January, crews will work on the Rt. 3 Westbound lanes and also will require single lane overnight closures. Work will take place on Monday to Thursday from 10:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. and Fridays from 10:30 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Motorists will be advised of lane closures via traffic alerts and Variable Message Signs. Motorists can also access real-time traffic information at www.trips123.com or via the NJDOT website at www.njcommuter.com.
