KEARNY – Jake Bradley, 81, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, at 3 p.m. I wrote a feature story on the man and thoroughly enjoyed him and his tales about his life in Scotland as a soccer player and the history of the Scots Club. While he knew the St. Andrews Lounge had its opening bash on Saturday night, I’m sure we are all sorry he missed it. He was interred in Iselin where he lived with his wife Betty.
Although I did not know him well, I did shed more than a few tears when I heard he died. He was a man’s man of the old school type and with each passing of a man of his indomitable stature, I feel the world loses a wee bit of it’s hearty soul.
For those who knew him well, to his family and friends, I share your grief and am happy to have known such a man. He was also a man who had a love affair with the “beautiful game” and he will never walk alone.
