Water Meter Reading Changes

IMPORTANT NOTICE

KEARNY– The automated remote water meter reading system that was being utilized to obtain meter readings for many of the Town of Kearny’s water accounts is no longer in active service. The automated reading system read meters through the telephone lines; that system is no longer supported by the telephone company. The town of Kearny will soon be installing a new more efficient meter reading system. In the meantime, in order to obtain accurate meter readings it will be necessary to gain access to water meters previously read by remote means. United Water Company, the town of Kearny’s billing provider, will have meter readers in town to obtain readings. United Water is in the process of sending out notices to the properties affected. The United Water Company’s field personnel wear United Water uniforms, always carry photo identification badges, and drive clearly marked United Water vehicles. We will work to keep this inconvenience to a minimum during this transition period.
