Alleged ID thief caught

LYNDHURST – Dumont resident Donald A. Moat, left, who lives at 89 Shadyside Ave. was arrested on charges of harassment, impersonation, and stalking on Tuesday, March 3.
The arrest came about as a result of an investigation conducted by members of the Lyndhurst Police Department, under the direction of Chief James O’Connor, and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Task Force, under the direction of Chief Joseph Macellaro.
The arrest stemmed from an investigation in which the following occurred:
Moat repeatedly used the victim’s personal information to create online Web accounts purporting to be the victim. He then communicated with individuals he met online while impersonating the victim and had them contact the real victim and provided her real contact information.
Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Prosecutor Molinelli said that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
Additionally, Molinelli would like to thank Lyndhurst Police Department since they provided manpower in the form of a Computer Crimes Task Force member, Officer Michael Lemanowicz, and who worked on this investigation.
