VOLUNTEERS NEEDED TO HELP CLEAN FRANK VINCENT MARINA

KEARNY – Councilwoman Carol Jean Doyle announced that Saturday, April 18, 2009 is the date for these year's annual Passaic River Cleanup. Volunteers are needed and asked to meet at 9:30am at the Frank Vincent Marina at the base of Bergen Avenue. The Councilwoman suggested that boots be worn, as the river edge is muddy. Gloves will be provided.
This is the a coordinated effort with Passaic Valley Sewerage Restoration Program with Bob DeVita, Director and the Town of Kearny. Together we join forces to make a difference with the goal of bringing back the Passaic River to a premier waterway.
Each year we have received help from Boy Scout Troop #305, Kearny Shop Rite, Kearny Fire Department, students from Kearny Schools and Kearny residents.
We have achieved some success through the education provided by the Restoration Program under the direction of Chris Brooks and "Messy Marvin".
