at Kearny Library

WH Arts Council

KEARNY – The Kearny Public Library and the West Hudson Council for the Arts will present a 3-part series for families on American art. This program is presented in conjunction with an award to the Kearny Public Library through the “Picturing America” initiative from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
“Picturing America” is a program which provides participating institutions with forty large high-quality reproductions of American art masterpieces. NEH’s Picturing America is an education initiative that brings significant works of American art directly to classrooms and libraries to help citizens of all ages explore American history and culture through the nation’s art. To date, over 76,000 schools, public libraries, and Head Start centers nationwide have been awarded this free education resource.
The programs will take place on Tuesday evenings, June 30, July 7 and July 14, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. and will be presented by Jim Lau, President of the West Hudson Council for the Arts. The programs will explore a specific group of art works with a presentation and discussion. A related project, suitable for elementary school children and above will follow.
The series is free and open to the public. No sign-up is required.
