Hudson County heroes will gather to honor fallen officer

The DiNardo Family Cup Soccer Tournament
kicks off on Sept. 18 at Giants Stadium

Head Coach Alex Lalaoui from the Soccer Learning Center along with the New York Red Bulls has announced a special fundraising soccer tournament scheduled for Friday, Sept. 18 at Giants Stadium in Rutherford to benefit the family of fallen Jersey City Police Detective Marc Anthony DiNardo.
Soccer players presenting local law enforcement, fire department, sheriff and corrections officers will join together on the pitch at Giants Stadium to play a great game of soccer for an even greater cause – a scholarship fund for the three young children of Detective DiNardo; Gwendolyn, age 4; Marc Anthony II, age 3; and one-year-old Ella.
Detective DiNardo, 37, a Jersey City police officer for 10 years, died from his injuries just days after being shot in the line of duty on July 16.
“Detective DiNardo gave his life to protect our community,” said Lalaoui. “Now it’s the community’s turn to join together to honor and care for the beautiful family he left behind.
To help raise additional funds for the DiNardo family, the New York Red Bulls have agreed to offer an exclusive ticket promotion available only through the Soccer Learning Center that includes entry to watch the DiNardo Cup Tournament at 3:30 p.m. plus re-entry into the stadium for the MLS Red Bull vs. New England Revolution match at 7:30 p.m. A special tailgate event will be held in the parking lot prior to the Red Bull game. Kids soccer-related activities will be provided (weather permitting) outdoors in Lot 15 courtesy of the Red Bulls between 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. Fans of all ages can enjoy this incredible day of soccer action on a local and professional level for only $20 per person.
