KEARNY – For the fifth consecutive year, the Kearny Federal Charitable Foundation has granted the Salvation Army of Greater Kearny with $10,000. Kearny Federal partnered with the Salvation Army in an effort to raise much-needed funds to support local families and individuals 365 days a year. The grant will specifically be used to continue the Salvation Army’s mission of helping the youth of the Greater Kearny area, including after school programs for grades 7 through 12.
“With vital programs and services, the Salvation Army of Greater Kearny assists individuals and families in our local communities every day of the year,” Craig Montanaro, Senior Vice President and Director of Strategic Planning at Kearny Federal Savings Bank said. “As a company committed to supporting the communities where our customers live and work, we are proud of this partnership and the positive influence it brings to the Greater Kearny community.”
Nearly 33 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through a broad array of social services. Amazingly, approximately 83 cents of every dollar raised is used directly to support these services in nearly 9,000 communities nationwide. On a state level, The Salvation Army helps over 360,000 New Jersey residents annually. On a very local level, The Salvation Army of Greater Kearny developed an After School Program, a Food Pantry, a Community Computer Lab, an ESL Program, and a night for teens called “Open Door on Wednesday Night” in their region.
The Kearny Federal Charitable Foundation is an arm of Kearny Federal Savings Bank. The foundation’s support is focused on community development and basic human needs. Kearny Federal has supported the communities it serves since 1884. The Bank has assets in excess of $2 billion and operates 26 full-service banking offices in Bergen, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Middlesex, Essex, Union and Ocean counties.
